"The Fall/Winter ball program was created because of the growing injury problems that we see as therapists on a daily basis. Shoulder instability, muscle tears, elbow and shoulder pain are all conditions that are caused by several factors that face our young player's every year such as:

  • Not enough leg strength to help control the arm in throwing.
  • Not enough baseball specific flexibility.
  • Not enough muscle endurance in the shoulder to handle lots of throws.
  • Poor mechanics.
  • Pitchers that start throwing difficult pitches to early.

We created this program to address these issues. What better time to address them then in the off season. The SPC Fall Ball Program addresses the athletes mechanics first evaluating the aspects of their throwing motion which may be causing losses in velocity and/or accuracy, as well as mechanics issues that could possibly lead to injury problems. Once the motion is corrected, we need to give the athlete the muscle endurance to control the motion through functional strengthening programs specifically designed for baseball.

We do not use machines or single joint exercises. The body does not function that way so it should not be trained that way. This program trains players to have dominating strength and power. It provides a curriculum that teaches proper warm up and stretching which each player is responsible for teaching to their training partners.

The end product is a sound baseball player with:

  • increased throwing velocity and accuracy.
  • increased bat speed and power.
  • increased core and lower extremity strength to control the throwing motion.
  • increased preparedness through proper warm up and stretching.
  • increased potential for success because of a decreased risk of injury.

Group sizes grow no larger than six players to guarantee optimal supervision. Group classes are available monday - thursday in the afternoons. To sign up for our Fall/Winter Program, call us today at 858-279-5570."
