Bryan has been a physical therapist in the San Diego community since 1998. Bryan received his Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy and Health Sciences from the University of New England where he was a 4 year All-American in Men’s Soccer. He is a current member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). Bryan’s goal with Rehab United is to change lives through functional physical therapy and performance enhancement for the San Diego community. Rehab United and its partners are the means by which that goal can become a reality.

Under the mentorship of many great San Diego therapists he was able to gain a substantial understanding of evaluation and treatment via manual rehabilitation. He has further progressed as a skilled therapist using the most recent rehabilitation techniques through functional biomechanics. Applying the skills learned through a close professional and personal relationship with renowned therapist Gary Gray, Bryan completed a year-long fellowship called GIFT in 2007 as a member and facilitator of the inaugural class. The Gray Institute for Functional Transformation (GIFT) is designed to enable participants to achieve proficiency, competence, confidence, and credibility in all aspects of Applied Functional Science through an understanding of functional principles, strategies, and techniques appropriate for use with patients and clients of all types and for all purposes including prevention, rehabilitation, and performance enhancement. As a facilitator, and graduate fellow, Bryan not only is an active member in the fellowship curriculum, but is instrumental in the development, progression, and mentorship of other fellows!

Through his experience, along with his brother Sean, he was able to focus on creating Rehab United Sports Medicine and Physical Therapy, Inc. Rehab United is a one of a kind environment for rehabilitation, physical therapy, and recovery of human function. There is a strong emphasis on a family practice; building Rehab United with his brother Sean Hill, who also created the pediatric division of Rehab United, Therapeeds™ Pediatric Physical Therapy Services, and treating with a philosophy that stands alone in the community. The Hills are finally fulfilling their dream of bringing a facility that is all encompassing and built on principals to the San Diego region. Bryan is also well known for his expertise in sport specific rehabilitation and strength training working with many Olympic, professional, and semi-professional athletes through rehabilitation and sports performance training.

Bryan was the head strength and conditioning coach for the San Diego Arsenal Football Club from 1999-2004. He serves as one of the rehabilitation and strength consultants for Poway High School Men's Lacrosse, the Albion Soccer Club, and has been a speed coach for Pro Select Soccer. Specializing in biomechanics, Bryan is able to work with all athletes of any sport. He regularly trains AVP pro volleyball tour athletes, high school Baseball, Lacrosse, Hockey, Track, Cross-Country, Tennis, and Football traveling teams, amateur/professional dancers, marathoners and triathletes and many more.

Founder/Director/Physical Therapist - Therapeeds™ Pediatric Physical Therapy Services
Center Coordinator of Clinical Education (CCCE) - Rehab United Physical Therapy and Sports Performance Centerbr> Co-Director/Performance Coach/Director - B.M.A.C.™ Baseball Mechanics and Conditioning - RU Sports Performance Center
Fellow of Applied Functional Science - Graduate Fellow of The Gray Institute for Functional Transformation (GIFT 2007)

Sean has been a physical therapist since 2001 and a certified strength and conditioning specialist since 1997. He brings extensive experience in pediatrics, orthopedics, and strength and conditioning for all ages and sports and is Rehab United's "Jack of All Trades." Sean not only treats orthopedic and neurological injuries and conditions for all ages, but he founded and directs the pediatric division of Rehab United; Therapeeds™ Pediatric Physical Therapy Services

Originally from Tempe, Arizona, Sean played golf, soccer and baseball in high school as well as coached soccer and baseball mechanics. He went on to play collegiate soccer at Northern Arizona University where he earned his B.S. in Exercise Science in 1996. In 2001, he received his Master's Degree in Physical Therapy from Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California. He has been a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) since 1997.

Sean developed his passion and drive for his functional approach through his early experiences as a multi-sport athlete, coach, strength and conditioning coach, and variety of experiences mentoring and teaching children. His knowledge and functional progression was significantly propelled to the next level through learning experiences, mentorship and development of a close professional and personal relationship with Gary Gray, PT and David Tiberio, PT. Sean completed the inaugural year-long fellowship called GIFT, developed by Gary Gray, PT. Sean is not only a Graduate Fellow of Applied Functional Science (FAFS), he is instrumental in the development, progression, and mentorship of other fellows as a GIFT Facilitator.

Sean began his formal pediatric physical therapy career as a P.T. student intern here in San Diego at Children's Hospital in 2000 while in physical therapy school. Upon graduation from P.T. school in 2001, he spent two years working with California Children's Services in Orange County. He quickly established himself as a specialist in functional pediatric physical therapy effectively pioneering and applying his functional, biomechanical approach to pediatric developmental and orthopedic rehabilitation. In addition, Sean developed and instructed other therapists at CCS in manual wheelchair wheelie training, balance, and advanced negotiation skills with the help of his clients who went through the wheelchair training program themselves. The program has been further developed here at Rehab United and Therapeeds and is called Skillz on Wheelz™. Sean returned to Children's Hospital of San Diego in 2003, before opening Rehab United, to continue in pediatrics at the main hospital in-patient department and predominantly at the previous satellite outpatient facility in Rancho Bernardo. Sean has also developed a functional strength and conditioning program specifically for kids with Cerebral Palsy called Palsy Power™ to promote independent mobility, confidence, and participation in sports. The program includes upright functional strength training, endurance, balance, transitions and object manipulation skills.

As co-founder and strength and conditioning coach with Rehab United Sports Performance Center (aka The Sports Performance Combine), Sean's knowledge of pediatric physical therapy has been vital to our development of speed, strength, and fitness programs for the young athlete. Sean is also the director of baseball training with RUSPC and has developed B.M.A.C.™-Baseball Mechanics and Conditioning Program. This program is applied to rehabilitation and sports performance clients alike and the results are proudly demonstrated by the performance and reviews of some of The San Diego Union Tribune's "High School Baseball Players to Watch", and hometown pros such as San Diego Padres starting pitcher Aaron Harang, middle reliever Geoff Geary and Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Tony Gwynn, Jr.

Sean, like the whole Rehab United family, truly enjoys giving back to the community in many different ways. His services have been requested by such organizations as Athletes Helping Athletes (AHA), The Abilities Center, National Sports Center for the Disabled, San Diego Adaptive Sports Foundation, Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) and more.

Sean enjoys cycling with RU Team E.X.C.E.L. and the Moment Cycle Sport Velo Team. He also enjoys photography, graphic design, snowboarding and traveling with and spending as much time as possible with his ever-smiling and cheerful wife Erynne! Erynne is the Director of Rehab United Massage & Wellness.

Brian Wilson, MPT
Staff Physical Therapist - Rehab United Physical Therapy and Sports Performance Center - Kearny Mesa
Multisport Performance Coach - RU Sports Performance Center
Founder/Director
- Catalyst Endurance Coaching of RU Sports Performance Center

Originally from Kansas City, Missouri, Brian was recruited out of high school to run track and cross country at Western Colorado State in Gunnison, Colorado. Although running track was a great opportunity, Brian was still drawn toward his love of soccer. After 1 year in Gunnison, he accepted a scholarship to play collegiate soccer at Graceland University (2006 NAIA national champions...GO JACKETS!!!). While at Graceland, he earned a B.S in Biology in 2001 and gathered conference and national honors as a student athlete. Upon graduating, Brian began a short stint of travel, climbing in the Rockies and Cascades, but eventually settled back in Missouri as a high school science teacher. Shortly thereafter, he was given the head coaching position for the girls & boys varsity soccer teams.
Through coaching, Brian developed a focus on athletic training as well as a desire to learn more about exercise physiology and kinesiology, which led him into the field of physical therapy. Brian was reluctant to leave coaching, but was enthusiastic about the opportunity to study the science behind rehabilitation at Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri. In 2006, he received his Master of Physical Therapy Degree.

While in graduate school, Brian applied the principles of physical therapy to his three favorite things: cycling, running, and swimming (in no particular order, of course). In doing so, he quickly rose to the top of the competition earning numerous 1st place age group finishes and podium honors amongst the elite/pro triathletes. Although urged by his close friends to commit full time to the sport and turn pro, he couldn’t ignore his desire to work in the field of physical therapy. After moving to San Diego, he now feels he can get the best of both worlds. He prides himself in his creative approach to triathlon training that focuses on taking individuals to their peak level of fitness while emphasizing hard work, fun, and injury prevention. There is never a dull moment for Brian's clients at RU! He's always singing, dancing and infecting all around him with his energy, witt and laughter as he prides himself on uplifting anyone he encounters!

In 2010, Brian founded Catalyst Endurance Coaching, a specialty subdivision of RU Sports Performance Center. Brian utilizes his diverse background to assist endurance athletes of all ability levels to establish periodized training programs that emphasize an achievable balance of disciplines without injury and burnout.

Kristen Knightly, DPT
Staff Physical Therapist - Rehab United Physical Therapy and Sports Performance Center - Kearny Mesa
Soft Tissue Specialist - Rehab United Massage and Wellness

Kristen grew up in Windsor, Massachusetts actively involved in figure skating, soccer, ice hockey, softball and lacrosse prior to three knee surgeries. Looking back now, Kristen looks at her injuries as a blessing in disguise having inspired her passion for physical therapy. Having gone through nearly 5 years of on and off rehab, she formed an impeccable bond with her hometown PTs. It seemed only natural to pursue PT further at Northeastern University in Boston, MA. It is here that she earned her Bachelors of Science in Rehabilitation and her Doctorate in Physical Therapy.

Having been introduced to Applied Functional Science at a young age through her mentor and friend, Dave Armet, Kristen was inspired by the Gary Gray and Dave Tiberio community. As graduation from PT school approached, Kristen attended her third Chain Reaction Transformation seminar. It was here that she spoke with members of the AFS community about employment opportunities across the country. Within a week, she further researched Rehab United, booked a flight, and scheduled an interview. She immediately fell in love with Rehab United's philosophy on treating both the physical and behavioral sciences of their patients, clients and community. Within months, she moved her life 3000 miles with her friend and colleague, Ashleigh Bordwell, and now finds herself at home within the Rehab United family. Here, she hopes to facilitate her patients and clients in their healing and in reaching their highest functional level. She has attended Brian Grasso's Youth International Conditioning Association seminar and recently went to her fourth Chain Reaction Series. She hopes to go through the GIFT fellowship in the near future to further expand on a professional and personal level.

Kristen's appreciation for the body and mind connection has inspired her to further develop herself as a bodywork specialist. She has completed various classes and workshops through IPSB (International Professional School of Bodywork). She has enjoyed the complimentary relationship of massage and physical therapy. Her strong rehabilitation and medical background makes her a unique addition to our massage and wellness services. Kristen specializes in FMR (functional manual reaction) to reinforce proper body mechanics, Swedish massage, deep tissue, circulatory, injury and sports massage modalities. She has been an integral part of the KOZ Race series post-race massage. Kristen truly loves where her career has taken her and is excited to continue to expand her knowledge base.

Kristen loves the community aspect of Rehab United as well, often found volunteering her time at race expos and the San Diego Surf Cup soccer tournament and participating in many local races. She enjoys running, cycling, swimming, rollerblading, hiking, skating and taking in the beautiful San Diego setting. She has taught Learn-to-Skate programs since she was 15, coached youth soccer and was a F.A.S.T. (Fitness And Sports Training) counselor, a camp dedicated to teaching skills required in a variety of sports while promoting a sense of team and self-esteem among young girls to help reach their full potential both on and off the field. If you see Kristen at any events please come introduce yourself and help build her West Coast family!!!

Director of Strength & Conditioning/Performance Coach - RU Sports Performance Center - Kearny Mesa
Registered Dietitian - Rehab United Physical Therapy and Sports Performance Center
Fellow of Applied Functional Science - Graduate Fellow of The Gray Institute for Functional Transformation (GIFT 2009)

Justin brings an essential element to the family at Rehab United - he works as RU's Registered Sports Dietitian, director of strength & conditioning, and unoffiical handy man around the clinic. He completed his Master’s degree in Kinesiology at San Diego State University in 2007 and holds several fitness certifications including Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (NSCA), USA Weightlifting Club Coach, and Certified Health/Fitness Instructor (ACSM). Justin has earned the Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics distinction, considered the premier professional sports nutrition credential in the United States.

His interest in nutrition and fitness began as a young motocross racer, after reading an article on eating well to increase performance. In high school Justin wrestled and ran track, but the eventual lack of calls and letters from scouts led him to the realization that competing at the Division I collegiate level was beyond reach. Justin soon turned his focus to improving the performance and lives of others and graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in 2003 with a dual degree in Nutrition and Kinesiology and later completed his dietetic internship at the University of Houston.

His experience includes training athletes from the Junior High to Olympic levels, teaching college courses, providing nutrition therapy to patients with a multitude of medical conditions, and presenting sport nutrition and fitness lectures to an array of audiences. Justin grew up in the Los Angeles area and, as a result, bleeds Dodger blue (but hopes Padre fans won’t hold that against him too much). He aspires to share his passion for fitness and nutrition through training and educating elite athletes as a strength coach and dietitian. Justin does his best to practice what he preaches and, thus, has completed multiple marathons, duathlons, and triathlons. He also coaches with Catalyst Endurance Coaching, a specialty subdivision of RU Sports Performance Center.

Justin completed the year-long GIFT fellowship in 2009.

Debbie Scott
Chief Financial Officer - Rehab United Physical Therapy and Sports Performance Center

Debbie, aka “Deborah J”, was born in raised in the city that never sleeps - Las Vegas, Nevada.  As a matter of fact, her father William J. Moore II, was one of the founders of what we all know as the Las Vegas Strip.  He was an architect, pioneer and general manager of the second hotel ever built on the strip in 1949, originally named The Last Frontier.  It was the first “theme resort” in Las Vegas and effectively set the tone for the monstrous themed resorts that compete on the strip today!  For some of you old enough to remember The Last Frontier, it also had the famous Silver Slipper Saloon with its trademark slipper in lights spinning atop the building.  That slipper has since retired to the Vegas graveyard, yet the family still has poker chips from that saloon and other memorabilia.  Debbie’s father went on to build and manage the El Cortez (still going strong and once owned by Bugsy Siegal) and the Showboat on Freemont Street (The Castaways since 2000).  Up until the Showboat’s change in ownership in 2000, Bill’s picture was still proudly displayed in the lobby!  Bill was a pioneer ahead of his time, involved in a lot of firsts in Las Vegas, such as the $1.99 steak dinner, bringing championship boxing to the strip, and first pool on the strip to name a few.  For information regarding the family’s history and involvement in the development of Las Vegas, Nevada, Debbie’s mother Patricia was very wise, before she passed away in 1993, by archiving most of Bill’s legacy at the UNLV library for her family, friends, and interested community members to learn from and enjoy for many years to come.

After finishing at Las Vegas High School, Debbie went up north to obtain her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Education, with a minor in English, from the University of Nevada – Reno. She then became a very well-liked and respected Business teacher at Earl Wooster High School in Reno, Nevada.

She moved to Tempe, Arizona in 1973 and Sean was born a year later.  She went to work for First National Bank as a temporary position so that they could buy a house to corral Sean and Bryan, who arrived less than 2 years later in 1976.  She ended up remaining with the bank through its various name changes and mergers from First National to First Interstate to now Wells Fargo for the next 19 years.  She gained valuable experience within the financial services industry including marketing, promotions, training, operations and administration.  She went on to become a consultant in the financial services industry, and other types of companies, developing and implementing training programs, documenting procedures, project management, and completing computer conversions for Home Savings of America, First Chicago Bank, Bank One, Tosco Corporation, and Wells Fargo Bank.

It makes sense why Debbie has also become known as “The Jack of All Trades” around Rehab United, always willing to wear more than one hat at a time and step in where needed with a smile and great attitude!

Debbie says, “My greatest accomplishment was raising two fabulous sons that are the owners of this dynamic company. I had the opportunity to support their many activities in school and extra curricular activities by volunteering and keeping them involved in the community.” She is essentially the foundation AND the reason Rehab United exists today!
