Meet the Team

Since 2003, our family has grown from a team of three to a team of over 100 people! Our "cRUw" is key to our success and we truly take pride in the family we've built over the years. The Rehab United Difference Begins with Our People.

Hometown: Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Education: Graduated from West Hills High School with my HS diploma. I’m currently a Kinesiology Major at Grossmont Cuyamaca Community College. I plan on continuing my education at San Diego State University and graduating from their Physical Therapy Program. I’m certified in Adult & Pediatric CPR/First Aid/AED.

Sports: Softball, Soccer, and Football (Go Eagles!)

Hobbies: Hiking, Fishing, Camping, spending time with my family, attempting DIY projects I find on Pinterest, and binge watching Netflix.

Favorite Foods: Sushi, Spaghetti, Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream

Whom You Admire / Favorite Mentor: My mom is the person I admire most. She is by far the strongest, most caring, selfless, independent, and motivating woman I have ever known. She has taught me to “always leave people better than you found them”, meaning I have the power to make a difference in a person’s life and to always make that impact a positive one. If I grow up to be half the woman she is, I’ll know I have succeeded in life.

Nickname: The most commonly used and least embarrassing nickname would be “Lay”.

Fun Fact About You: I’ve always been such a terrible runner. In an attempt to become a better runner, I’ve completed in two Spartan Sprints, two Rock n Roll Half Marathons, and multiple 5ks in San Diego. And yet, I still prefer a 7 mile hike in the mountains over a 3 mile run any day.

Biography: Leighla lived in Oceanside for about seven years and then moved to Fallbrook for about three years.  She moved from Fallbrook to Santee right before starting high school and have lived there for about 10 years now.

As a teenager, Leighla worked in retail and sales during the busy holiday seasons at GTM and Pier 1 Imports. She also had a summer job working as a carhop at Sonic. And yes, she was on rollerskates and YES she did fall multiple times and spilled food/drinks all over herself. She then began working as a front desk receptionist/sales associate at Massage Envy Spa and worked her way up to being the Assistant Manager. After almost four years at ME, she began working in the auto insurance industry as a call center representative. She worked in the call center for a little over a year and was then offered an opportunity to be a part of the RU Family/Team.

Leighla originally started her college career as a Criminal Justice major and wanted to work in the FBI. But after taking an Adapted Physical Fitness course at Grossmont College, where she assisted in teaching weight training and water aerobics to special needs students, she knew she found her passion and changed her major to Kinesiology. Since then, she has enjoyed applying her education to create a more healthy and active lifestyle for herself and promoting health and wellness to anyone that will listen!

She enjoys volunteering and participating in events in San Diego that offer support, raising awareness, and fundraising for great causes. (St. Judes Children’s Hospital, Rady’s Children’s Hospital, San Diego Police Department, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, etc.

Leighla loves hiking and finding new trails to explore. She also enjoys playing softball, attempting to play soccer without tripping over the ball, and spending time with my family. She and her boyfriend enjoy camping, fishing, and cooking together. She lives with my boyfriend, Marcus, and their turtle, Crush. She comes from a HUGE family and they are all very close. She has two older brothers, a little brother, and a little sister. They also have a family dog (who thinks she’s a cat), a ball python, chameleon, and rabbit.

"I chose RU because of their loyalty to the community, the incredibly positive atmosphere, and the constant support for living a happier, healthier and more active lifestyle. I’m currently in school studying to be a physical therapist and I feel so thankful to be surrounded by such amazing and passionate professionals to learn from and work with."
