Dear Massage Clients, We are back and scheduling massage appointments! I am thrilled to announce that RU Massage & Wellness has been given the official OK by the county to resume services as we are within a medical facility and are considered to be medical-massage. I wanted to provide you information and details on what to expect in our reopening process and give you the opportunity to learn what steps we are taking to comply with the health and safety requirements specifically for massage. Please continue reading this post or click this link to be directed to our FAQ blog post that addresses common questions we've received about our reopening processes and procedures.
Our Health and Safety Promise:
Our massage therapists have been trained on all updated and required cleaning and sanitizing procedures and will continue ongoing training as we continue to monitor recommendations provided by the CDC, local and state health authorities
We require the wearing of a mask that covers the nose and mouth for anyone entering our facility, including staff and clients
Massage therapists will be wearing masks during your entire interaction with them in the clinic
A mask or alternative covering for the mouth and nose will be required for the client while face-up or in a side-lying position on the table
Massage therapists are required to self-monitor for symptoms of illness each morning before reporting to work and are required to stay home if they have a fever, cough or are not feeling well; we ask that our clients also monitor themselves for illness and refrain from coming into our clinics if they have symptoms of illness
Our massage rooms and equipment are disinfected between every treatment session including touchpoints in the massage rooms and common areas; all cloth-upholstered chairs have been replaced with vinyl or plastic chairs that can be sanitized between each client session
As always, massage therapists thoroughly wash their hands, forearms, and elbows before and after each treatment session; we ask that our clients wash or sanitize their hands before the start of their massage session
Massage therapists will dispense a single-session worth of massage lotion into a small container for each massage session to eliminate the frequent contact with lotion dispensers during and in between massage sessions
As always, the massage table linens are replaced for each treatment session and are laundered and sanitized after each use. The use of table warmers, fleece table covers and blankets have been discontinued until further notice
Gloves are readily available at our clinics for staff or client use but are not required for massage treatment sessions
We are currently scheduling massage appointments through the end of July at our Kearny Mesa (RU1), Carmel Valley (RU2), La Mesa (RU3), and Escondido (RU4) locations. Some of you have already been contacted for scheduling as we had promised to reach out first to our clients who had appointments scheduled in March and April canceled due to our mandated closure. I am continuing to make those phone calls as I open schedules for our massage staff at each clinic. Our massage staff is returning in a gradual progression and we will be keeping you posted as we add back staff and availability throughout the summer. For the most up-to-date availability for our staff and clinic locations please refer to our Mindbody Online Scheduler.
Please be aware that our confirmation email for appointments has changed. When you schedule a massage appointment, our scheduling system will send you an automated email with your appointment details along with our updated COVID-19 policy as a reminder of what to expect when coming into our facility. As always, we ask that if you need to cancel or change your appointment for any reason that you call us ahead of time and that we cannot take appointment change requests or cancellations via email.
If you would like to book future appointments, our Mindbody Online scheduler remains active and searchable for appointments or you can continue to call our offices for scheduling assistance. You can also utilize this link to purchase massage gift cards for future use for yourself/family/friends.
Massage Memberships and Unused Credits
For any massage credits or unused sessions currently on your accounts, please be assured that any expiration periods will be extended as needed. If you have received a message about expiring massage credits, please know these messages are automated by our scheduling system and the dates will be adjusted by our team.
For our massage members, all memberships were put on an open-ended suspension during our temporary closure. When you return for massage, our front office team will be able to assist you in reactivating that membership. We will not automatically resume any massage memberships to allow you the opportunity to decide when you are ready for those monthly services and charges to resume.
We realize that the CDC continues to recommend social distancing as a key preventive measure for limiting the spread of COVID-19 and that massage services are not possible while maintaining those recommendations. We also recognize that therapeutic bodywork is tremendously beneficial to many of you in maintaining your physical and mental health. We feel that by adapting the health and safety measures outlined above that we can all do our part to minimize the risk involved in resuming our work with you, however, each person must decide what level of risk is ok given their own unique circumstance. Should you choose to return for massage, we are ready to welcome you back while taking precautions for the health and safety of our staff and our clients. Should you choose to wait longer, we support your decision and will be here for you when you are ready.
Thank you as always for your continued support of RU Massage & Wellness. I have said it before, but I will reiterate now that I have been uplifted and so thankful for your feedback, positivity and kind words you have shared with me in your emails, texts and phone calls during these past few months. I am excited to welcome my massage staff and you, our valued clients, back to our clinics and treatment tables. I welcome your feedback and input at any time so please do not hesitate to reach out to me at any point in time.
