Biography: Arturo is a San Diego County native, born and raised in Escondido, CA. He is the youngest of five and the first in his family to attend and graduate from college.
He attended San Pasqual High School and played youth soccer for North County Alliance, Escondido Earthquakes, and FC Heat. He attended Palomar Community College, where he was voted Pacific Coast Conference Soccer Player of the Year in 2000.
He transferred to San Diego State University, where he received his Bachelors Degree in Kinesiology. Arturo went on to receive his Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree from The University of Southern California (Fight ON!!!) in May of 2008. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), a designation earned through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He has also completed a year long fellowship with the Gray Institute for Functional Transformation (GIFT) and is now a Graduate Fellow of Applied Functional Science (FAFS).
Arturo enjoys every aspect of his role at Rehab United, especially the everyday interaction with every patient and staff member. He believes that every patient that enters a Rehabilitation facility wants to know that they are not alone and that someone out there is willing to help them achieve their goals. He believes that every Physical Therapist must give themselves entirely to each of their patients, in order to show them that they are on this progressive journey together. Arturo takes pride in being compassionate and an active listener to every person that enters the facility. Arturo enjoys being a mentor and Clinical Instructor because he feels it is a great way to progress the Physical Therapy profession and also challenge himself to become a more effective and efficient clinician. He loves to teach new clinicians and students that the Physical Therapist's goal should be to determine and treat the cause of dysfunction/pain and not just focus on the symptoms. Arturo has coached youth soccer since 1997, for competitive soccer clubs Vista Storm and his hometown club, FC Heat, for which he also played. He was also the Freshman and JV soccer coach for his Alma Mater, San Pasqual High School from 2001 – 2004. During his free time, Arturo loves to spend time with his beautiful family, his lovely wife Deana and his three AMAZING boys.
