Biography
Shaugn completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Exercise Science from Cal Poly Pomona. He continued his education at University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in Austin, TX, where he earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. Following graduation, he completed a year-long orthopedic residency through Evidence in Motion to specialize in orthopedic conditions.
Shaugn is a Los Angeles native where he grew up playing a variety of sports, mainly tennis where he competed in ITF tournaments as well as coached elementary school kids. After sustaining a knee injury as a high school student, his passion for physical therapy was ignited as he became a patient himself. During college, he worked as an aide at a local physical therapy clinic and was involved in numerous research projects with the Exercise Science department.
With several years of experience as a physical therapist, he has held various leadership roles, mentored numerous physical therapy students, has been involved with Special Olympics Texas, and has helped patients achieve their rehab goals. Shaugn holds certifications in Applied Functional Science, Blood Flow restriction and ASTYM. With his orthopedic residency background and his knowledge in Applied Functional Science, Shaugn integrates research-based treatment interventions along with a whole-body approach to get patients moving comfortably so they can get back to what they love doing.
After relocating to San Diego with his wife, he joined Rehab United as the company’s culture and treatment philosophy aligned with his values as a physical therapist. During his free time, he enjoys hiking with his two dogs, running, playing tennis, and rooting for his LA sports teams.
